Pelindo and AMANAIR sign seaplane service agreement to enhance inter-island connectivity

PT Pelindo (Persero) and PT AMANAIR signed a Memorandum of Understanding for seaplane service development at Hotel Borobudur Jakarta on August 31, 2024. The collaboration aims to strengthen connectivity between ports, coastal areas, and islands in Indonesia, supporting the Indonesia Danantara transformation and adding value to the port and maritime-air transport ecosystem. The partnership includes developing water bases, terminals, and supporting facilities for passengers and cargo, particularly in tourism, KEK, and remote areas. Pelindo's Commercial Director Farid Padang emphasized the importance of maritime-air integration for access to remote destinations, disasters, and social activities. AMANAIR sees potential for flexible seaplane connectivity across ports, islands, and destinations nationwide. As a preliminary step, both parties will conduct assessments at locations including Benoa (Bali), Gilimas (Lombok), Banyuwangi, Sunda Kelapa, and regions in Sulawesi, Papua, and Sumatra. Assessment results will form the basis for market potential evaluation, location readiness, and development feasibility analysis. The seaplane service will initially focus on tourism and marina sectors, following international conventions and serving as a pilot project for Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
