Hujan Deras Guyur Jakarta Usai Berminggu-minggu Kering

Jakarta experienced heavy rain on Tuesday (4/8/2026) at around 19.00, ending weeks of dry conditions. The downpour was especially intense in the Cawang area of East Jakarta, where water streamed from the station roof onto the platform and quickly soaked the streets. Many commuters arrived without umbrellas and were seen rushing across the tracks in the strong rain. The heavy rain also hit Kebayoran in South Jakarta, worsening traffic jams near Kebayoran Baru station and along Jalan Sultan Iskandar Muda close to Gandaria City. Nearby Depok and Bojonggede in Bogor also received rain. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) had earlier warned that the peak of the 2026 dry season would occur from August to September, with most of Java, Bali, and South Kalimantan facing the highest drought risk. Java is considered especially vulnerable because rainfall remains below normal through October while water demand stays high due to intensive agriculture and a dense population.
